Atlas Tales Help
Atlas Tales.com Mini Tutorial

Front Page Description
Left side:
  • Top Box - This is the really cool Atlas Tales logo that I made in Illustrator and "dirtied" up to look kinda old. The surrounding elements are from Marvel Tales 110.
  • Second Box or Link Box - These are links to different areas on the site. Non-red links are not working at this time.
  • Third Box or Title Box: This has a dropdown list of all the titles. It should match Tom's title/date list except for a few titles that I added because I wanted to look at the covers (Amazing Adult Fantasy is one).
  • Fourth Box or Issue Box.: This box lists all the issue number for the selected title. You will know what title is selected by the title information box which is directly below this one. That is the title for which this issue number list represents.
  • Fifth Box or Title Information Box - Contains all the information relating to the title (not specific issues). If the issue numbering has been continued from or continued into another title, links will appear that will take you to that title. Also shown are eBay links for current and completed auctions (I saw this feature on bipcomics.com and adopted it for atlastales). The bottom link is for a "gallery" view of all available covers.

Right Side: Displays different things based on what is selected on the left side.

HOWTO:
1) How do I see if you have any information about Marvel Tales.
  • Choose Marvel Tales in the Title dropdown list (3rd box down on left).
  • Press the Go! button. Information will show in the right section of the screen. I call this the "graph". It tries to show graphically when the issues were published. For Marvel Tales you can quickly see that it was published sparsely at first and then monthly by the end of its run. You will also see brief summaries of any information available about individual issues. The issue number is a link to more information on that issue. The camera icon signifies that a cover image is available. Any credits will be summarized to the right - "co:" means cover. If a creator's name is in brackets it is unsigned - followed by a question mark mean it is a guess - all pretty standard notation from the timely-atlas list.
2) How do I get information about Navy Action 1?
  • First of all select Navy Action from the title dropdown list and press the Go! button.
  • You can see the issue summary on the right. Looks like there is an image, cover credits and story credits (right after the cover (co:) credits). You can get to the Navy Action 1 information page two ways.
    • select the issue number in the issue number dropdown list (4th box down on left) and press Go!
    • Click on the red issue number in the "graph" on the right side of the screen
  • One the issue page appears, you will see information about Navy Action 1. You can click on the cover image for a larger view.

3) What do the brackets around an artists name mean?
  • "[ ]" (ie. [Maneely], [Kirby]/[Rule]): the art is not signed but the art is recognizable and is certainly this artist(s).
  • "?" (ie. Ayers?, Burgos?: This is a guess - not entirely sure but this artist is possible.
  • "Unknown": no idea who this is.
